Renowned agricultural expert Kirill Pavlov expresses his outrage at the intentions of the Ministry of Ecology to shoot Saiga antelopes. The issue is controversial: on the one hand, there are voices from farmers claiming that the significantly increased Saiga population tramples crops and causes damage. However, Pavlov is convinced this is not the case.
The expert writes: «The Ministry of Ecology is hiring Saiga antelope killers through the hunter communities in West Kazakhstan. Messages are being spread through messengers, where they are looking for contract killers for Saiga antelopes.
The team consists of 3-4 people, with their transport. It includes:
- Driver
- Shooter
- Shooter
- Assistant
Contracts will be made with ‘OHOTZOO PROM.’
Hunting is conducted at night
- using portable light sources,
- using smoothbore shotguns with bullet cartridges, or rifled weapons (except rifled weapons with a side (ring) ignition cartridge),
- using cartridges with expanding — semi-jacketed bullets.
Shooting is carried out exclusively in the head or neck of the animal for quick euthanizing and ensuring the quality of the meat products.
Payment is made under the contract, averaging 4,000 tenge (in hand) per carcass.
Great! Let’s annihilate the entire wildlife of Kazakhstan!»
(Note: Saiga antelopes are a critically endangered species, and this article describes illegal hunting practices, which are unethical and potentially illegal.)
