34.19 tenge per kilowatt is the price, while the ‘coal’ kilowatts have a maximum price of 8 tenge. Such is the ‘competitiveness’ of alternative energy. This is reported by the well-known political analyst Marat Shibutov.
The expert has taken a highly critical stance on the idea of transitioning to alternative energy sources, which turn out to be several times more expensive than traditional ones. And the environmental friendliness of alternative energy is also questionable.
Shibutov quotes the Telegram channel ‘High Voltage’:
«For the first time in Kazakhstan, an auction was held for the construction of a solar power plant. Judging by the interest of Rosatom in the construction of a solar power plant in Kazakhstan, this news can be considered important. Four companies were allowed to participate in the auction for the selection of projects for the construction of a solar power station with a total installed capacity of 20 MW, but Stellar Energy won. The auction price offered by the company is 34.19 tenge/kW*h (excluding VAT). The project is planned to be located in the West Kazakhstan region. The next auction for the selection of RES projects will be held tomorrow — they will consider projects for the construction of large hydropower plants with a total installed capacity of 200 MW for the Northern and Southern zones of the Kazakhstan power system and solar power plant projects for 20 MW for the Southern zone.»
