Psychologist: Kazakhstan Reminds America of the 50-s

Another wave of violent actions against women and children moved Zhibek Zholdasova to compare Kazakhstan and the USA of the 50-s of the 20th Century with their family violence tradition

Literal Translation Below:

Back to Medieval

Recently, my husband shared some stories from Kazakhstan – a man stabs his ex-wife to death for divorce, a family friend rapes a 5-year old child orally, tearing her throat, stepfather rapes two stepdaughters and threatens to strangle them… A bit of relief was the news that the pervert stepfather was put in jail for life, because he had other convictions earlier.  Wife slayer and the second rapist were apprehended… Awful, awful….

Where only does it come from? Time to think. Saw statistics, indicating that 45% of our men physically attack their women, not count sexual, psychological and financial violence.

70 years of the Soviet regime did not bring equality. Neither did they change mentality. After the collapse of the USSR, we fell down into the Mediaeval.

October Revolution and repressions that followed deprived us from educated and advanced people. How much time will pass, before we accumulate a critical mass of not just educated middle class, but people with active life-attitude, who will change our mentality and convince the masses that attacking women is a taboo. I hereby ask misogynists who think that women are always to blame, to abstain from comments.  Statistics report that 96% of all acts of violence are against women, and almost nothing stands for violence against men.

As long as we do not have enough people with active life-attitude, we, as a society benefit from having suppressed women who only are capable of brining men with violent inclinations.

Suppressed Women of Kazakhstan

Such a mentality is a fruitful soil for existence of the cult of boys. The said cult exists since the times of the Age of Bronze. A woman is nothing in that cult.  Slave psychology of such women will make them justify violence, relatives of rapists will press on victims, forgetting that it was them who brought rapists up. It is a closed circle.

Those particular women, infected with the psychology of slaves, will solemnly open up new courses for women, teaching them to be good Kelins (obedient and voiceless wives), telling them to keep eyes closed on adulteries, indoctrinating them to tolerate violence and believe that there are no other ways in life.

Who does not suppressed woman leave?  Because, since earliest years in life, she is mesmerized to there is no other way, that without a spouse she is a zilch, while children for a divorced woman are a burden. This is some syndrome of impelled hopelessness – yes, I am self-sufficient and know how to make money, but I shall have no life without a spouse.

We all see that video from Uzbekistan – during a wedding party, the fresh husband slaps his wife on the face, because she won a competition. That video was the last straw, after which their government adopted a new law – concerning home violence!!!

We Are Lagging Behind Uzbekistan

As for us, we will not adopt such a law, although every week we see videos, in which men batter up women, victims share stories of brutal attitude, young girls are kidnapped and the kidnappers’ families commit all sorts of actions in regards to them. Women get killed or put on fire. The government keeps its eyes closed and only produces formal reports – we apprehended the perpetrator, we are seeking for the attacker, the criminal was put in jail. But where is that law, that all civilized countries have?

Good news is that we began to discuss those incidents more, so there is a tiny hope, that our society is changing, may be too slowly, but still…

Have you seen Mona Lisa Smile?  It shows changes in the American society’s attitude to women.  Historically, we are there, at the level of the America of the 50-s of the 20th century, when society was swarming with mems like “all for the sake of my husband” or “give her a vacuum-cleaner and she will be happy”.
