Under the chairmanship of Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sadyr Japarov, the sixth meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan took place, reports Akorda.

In his speech, the head of our state noted that Kazakh-Kyrgyz interactions are developing in the spirit of strategic partnership.

«Allied relations are strengthening. Today, we will sign a historic agreement that will open up broad opportunities for the development of bilateral contacts. There is no doubt about this. We look at this with great hope. We have all the necessary potential. I am confident that the meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council will contribute to further expanding the spheres of cooperation and will take our partnership to a new level,» said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

He announced that during today’s meeting, the most pressing issues of cooperation between the two countries would be discussed.

«I am convinced that our interaction, tested by time, has a great future. In this direction, we must make the necessary efforts. The work of the Supreme Interstate Council will give a special impetus to the development of Kazakh-Kyrgyz relations,» emphasized Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic highlighted the importance of further deepening partnership across a wide range of areas.

«Today’s event will contribute to further strengthening Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations. It is gratifying that our negotiations are held in the spirit of traditional allied and strategic ties. Kyrgyzstan pursues a foreign policy aimed at deepening bilateral ties with Kazakhstan. It is important to support each other, think about the future, and jointly solve problems. The executive authorities of Kyrgyzstan are taking appropriate measures to implement the decisions of the Supreme Interstate Council between the two countries. I am confident that these meetings will give a new impetus to mutual cooperation,» said Sadyr Japarov.

The presidents emphasized that a fruitful exchange of views had taken place, priorities had been identified, and further tasks of bilateral interaction had been outlined.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Sadyr Japarov expressed mutual desire to elevate relations between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan to a qualitatively new level.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the fields of trade and economics, transport and logistics, water and energy, and cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.

Additionally, the President of Kazakhstan announced the signing of a historic agreement.

«Kyrgyzstan is a fraternal country for us, an important and reliable partner. The unbreakable friendship of our peoples is based on common history and spiritual values. Kazakh-Kyrgyz relations are developing in the spirit of strategic partnership.

Today, we will sign a historic document – the Treaty on Deepening and Expanding Allied Relations, which will give a new impetus to the development of Kazakh-Kyrgyz relations.

Popular wisdom says: ‘Қырғыз бен қазақтай бір-біріне жақын халық жоқ’ (‘There are no closer peoples than the Kyrgyz and the Kazakhs.’ – Ed.). There is no doubt that this important document will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations,» the president said.
