The advice that Americans give to other countries is often not practiced in the United States itself. Moreover, they may act in exactly the opposite way.

This is written by the well-known political analyst Marat Shibutov on his Telegram channel:

«Here, the U.S. advises us to reduce the number of prisoners, carry out the humanization of punishments, and so on. But for themselves, they use the RICO law (effectively repression of entire groups), the rule of stacking sentences, and the ‘three-strikes’ rule (for a third offense, regardless of severity, 25 years or life imprisonment). And in this way, they have broken the backbone of many criminal groups.

However, they have the highest number of prisoners in the world, including 40% of African-American men who have served time. But crime rates are several times lower than ours.

So I’m thinking, maybe we should do things the way Americans do them, not the way they advise us to do?»
